Father's day picnic

Great dads are hard to find. Thank you for being one of them.
It was Father's Day on Sunday the 19th. A very hot and sunny day. Temperature was close to 106 F, it was burning but I guess the wind kind of helped a bit. I did enjoy the first hour of the picnic, but the heat was really killing me. And I had a bad allergy that morning too. And Irfan wasn't a happy camper either. A very bad combo!

Nonetheless, the day was for the wonderful dads, and I'm glad that Zuhri seemed to enjoy it. BBQ-ing, chatting and lepak2. It didn't matter how miserable the mom was- it was Dad's day. LOL.

Let's do more pictures and less talking shall we.

Amazing food. I made the chicken satay. Or should I say Gem yg buat :P

The chef of the day

The crowd

Gem with her sate. sedap sampai nak makan lidi.

Fey yg dah penat sampai nak tertido. Siap ade bodyguard tu, how special.

Irfan was so happy that Aunty Cah nak layan dia...

Happy father's day to our Dada

Amin's mom

All of us wishing the best to the man in our lives.

Where the heck did that come from? Any guess what the heck this is?
Irfan's PJs... in the trash can!! Then I remember Irfan was asking me if he can put his PJs in the laundry last night. Instead of putting it in the laundry basket, he put it in the trash can. Hahahaha.. Irfan.. Irfan... one day when I'm 80 or so.. I hope I can read this again.. and smile :)

Make Up

My favorite foundation/ make up of all time is Bare Escentuals (BE). It's a mineral make up konon2 tak guna all the chemicals and junks that you can find in other brands. I've been using it for awhile, almost 5 years to be exact. The foundation is superb for people with blemishes and flaws - especially me. I don't really like wearing concealer because I'm having a hard time trying to blend in the colors. With BE, I don't have to apply concealer, just swirl, tap and buff. As easy as that.

The good thing about powder foundation is that it's not liquid, so in a hot sunny day it won't 'melt' and it won't look cakey. I don't like greasy look. However, there's one thing that I don't like about BE make up. Since it's powdery, it makes my skin a bit dry. But the fix to that is by applying good moisturizer underneath the foundation. It works brilliantly!

Now that we have Sephora in town, I've been going to the mecca of make-ups almost every week (with Irfan of course, and he loves the place too). Well, maybe couple of times a week phheww.. I couldn't resist the temptation to try all the make ups in there hahaha.. and to my surprise after trying tons of other foundations, concealers, blushes etc, I keep crawling back to BE. In the end, I bought another BE foundation. Yes it is THAT good.

Man I look pretty in these pics. LOL

Check out my flawless face. It's purely the BE foundation. Well, I should put a pic of  my face without BE but takde gamba la pulak. Maybe next time. Please note that this is not an advertorial so I'm not getting anything for this post. This is just a review of a product that I've tried and I love it so far!

Tornado in town

Just a couple of days ago I wrote about tornado and the aftermath in Joplin, MO. And remember that I talked about the escape drill that I might need to do one of these days.. well, I don't have to do it anymore. Today was my first hand experience with a tornado escape. Thank god it wasn't a tragic one.

Ok where should I start. Today was rather gloomy and I myself wasn't in my best mood. After work, Zuhri went to Wichita State to play basket ball. I was at home trying to figure out how to shave some expenses for the NYC trip, seems like we have to spend every single pennies left for the Million dollar trip eeuurghh.. Irfan was napping in the room. Then I heard Irfan cried so I went into the room and hug him. Bila dah cuddle tu tertido la sekali dgn si kecik.

Then I heard the phone rang.. twice. I didn't feel like answering the phone. After 5 mins or so.. Zuhri came back and mencari2 la kitaorg. Again.. Irfan and I were still under the comforter cuddling and I wasn't in my best mood so didn't feel like saying anything. Earlier today, we had a lil arguement about who should do grocery shopping, so that explains the silent treatment. Tiba2 zuhri bukak lampu and saw me and irfan cuddling and he said we need to hurry there's tornado warning. I was like... whhaaattttt?? So dengan sehelai sepinggang we drove off to the nearest shelter which is walmart. While driving, I heard the tornado siren went on and off. All of this happened around 7:30 pm.
It was dark and scary outside. To my surprise people acted like there's nothing to worry about.
Alhamdulillah semua selamat. We were in walmart for an hour or so.. so sempat la buat grocery shopping bersama-sama heheh. How ironic.

This is how it looks like outside walmart. Look at the tornado formation.

Let's go home.. I'm tired already

Why are we in Walmart in the middle of the night momma?
Time to get really serious about this tornado I guess..

BLooD!!

Holaa~ heheh just drop by 2 share my experienced wif u, sis! Right now im in 2nd week of medicine posting and today was the 1st time i got the opportunity 2 go to blood clinics and learn how to draw blood..heheh at first, i felt quite nervous and i could feel how pain everytime the nurse assistant prick the patient;s skin....oucchh it looks so painful. After learning several times how to draw blood from Mr Ong( who is really expert in drawing the blood) , he then asked my friend and i to draw blood from each other... =D gllopp ...my friend was so scared and she refused to let me draw her blood! I offered her to draw my blood, but she was not brave enough...hahha then finally i was allowed to draw blood for the first time directly from the patient...yipeee..huuhu i was quite clumpsy, and need my friend's help to tie the tourniquet at patient's arm. The patient had undergone breast operation due to cancer and blood sample was asked for investigation. After searching the most prominent blood vessel at cubital fossa of the arm, i inserted the needle and tried to aspirate the blood..goosshh! Im soo happy to see the blood coming from the vessel into the syringe!!hehehe Go go Munya...=D ten i draw blood from another patient..ngggeee mcm da expert sgt plakk.. =P ok laa got to go now! hospital is waiting for me!

On Natural Disaster

Moment of silence to the tornado victims in Joplin Missouri. It happened on May 23rd and the death toll is currently about 140+.
Joplin is about 3 hrs away from Wichita. Here is midwest, tornado is a common disaster especially in summer. We hear about it every now and then, thunderstorms, tornadoes and hail warning. SCARY especially when you're alone with your son at home, and the tornado warning goes on and... you don't have a basement to go to. Well, in our case we have to go to the nearest shelter. One of these days I might have to do a quick escape-drill just so that I'd know what to do in case of emergency. Nauzubillah.

For those in the tornado ring area, I pray for your safety.

Shutterfly Photobook

I love the shutterfly photobook and it's worth my time to blog about it! I got a coupon for a free photobook and viola.. my first masterpiece. I've received similar offers couple of times before but I've never got the time to try it. All this while I was under the impression that it'll take me forever to get it done and I might get frustrated then terus malas nak buat. Nope.. I was wrong. It was super easy, took me less than 24 hours to get it done (I wasn't on it all the time, on-off thingy). If you can sit in front of the lappy for 5 hours straight, then you'll be done before you know it.

So my masterpiece is of course about my sweetheart Irfan.. I never got the chance (again) to put together anything memorable for him (ever since he was born)..so this is for you babe. A story of ... Irfan bin Zuhri. Please refer to the link below and enjoy.
For those who'd like to create a photobook but not within the US region, you can create it and I can help to deliver it to you. No problem. Sharing is caring kan :)
