I told myself once that I should do an entry a day.Obviously it never happens. Ok here's my attempt to write once in two days, at least.
I was in the bathroom earlier today when I saw this

Where the heck did that come from? Any guess what the heck this is?
Irfan's PJs... in the trash can!! Then I remember Irfan was asking me if he can put his PJs in the laundry last night. Instead of putting it in the laundry basket, he put it in the trash can. Hahahaha.. Irfan.. Irfan... one day when I'm 80 or so.. I hope I can read this again.. and smile :)

Shutterfly Photobook

I love the shutterfly photobook and it's worth my time to blog about it! I got a coupon for a free photobook and viola.. my first masterpiece. I've received similar offers couple of times before but I've never got the time to try it. All this while I was under the impression that it'll take me forever to get it done and I might get frustrated then terus malas nak buat. Nope.. I was wrong. It was super easy, took me less than 24 hours to get it done (I wasn't on it all the time, on-off thingy). If you can sit in front of the lappy for 5 hours straight, then you'll be done before you know it.

So my masterpiece is of course about my sweetheart Irfan.. I never got the chance (again) to put together anything memorable for him (ever since he was born)..so this is for you babe. A story of ... Irfan bin Zuhri. Please refer to the link below and enjoy.
For those who'd like to create a photobook but not within the US region, you can create it and I can help to deliver it to you. No problem. Sharing is caring kan :)

Parent As Teacher (PAT) Family Day

Since Irfan is not enrolled in any daycare or preschool, I've been taking him to PAT classes. It's a program for parents and kids who are not attending any formal classes to mix around and have fun! The classes are available through out the week, but we only go to the ones close to our apartment. I'll talk more about our daily activities in some other entry.

Anyhow.. it's approaching summer and everybody will have summer break. So school will be closing pretty soon. And sadly PAT as well (huwaaaa why oh why.. ape nak buat dgn Irfan summer ni). So last week on Thursday we went to the closing event - PAT family day (actually not really our program, pegi attend program anak org lain dgn tak malu nye heheh). We had lots of fun.. Irfan got to play with tons of stuff- fishing in a tub, farm animals, playground. He even got to pet and fed some farm animals- goats, lama, rabbits and piglets of course he didn't touch the piglets hehe. The highlights of the day was when Irfan got to ride the pony!!! He loved it sooo much he was grinning ear to ear while riding the pony. And of course bila dah habis melalak la kan..

It was such a fun experience. Irfan ni memang animal lover, he's really into animals... I wonder where he got it from :) No way, not from his mama.

Sayang la lupa bawak camera that day.. Adoi. I was using my BlackBerry and the pics sux big time! Euurghhh.. is it time for Iphone?

And new glasses too- handsome young man :)

Aunty Cah in da' house

Gem was here several weeks ago (see posting below). She got Irfan a gift - Potty like a Rockstar Ts. We're so loving it.
Irfan proud of himself.

Aunty Cah trying to say something but Irfan buat bo-layan

Eiiikkk.. ape ni aunty cah pegang2 org heheh
Irfan went to his playgroups wearing the T and some mom were like... 'Woahh.. he can potty by himself'. Unbelievable la sgt.. well most americans don't train their kids until 3. But for Msian it's pretty common to have the kids trained by 18 months. Irfan is actually a lil behind but its ok..it is still a memorable milestone :)

The potty journey alhamdulillah was very pleasant, at least it's not as bad as feeding him. There was a time when it started to stall; I think it happened after a month he was potty trained. For one whole week he peed on the floor yikes. Tension makcik. Pelik because he's been using the toilet for one whole month with no problem at all, almost zero accidents, and suddenly there you go... back to square one. I lost my temper, memang marah sgt kat Irfan but he's been good since then. Just that week. From what I've read it's normal and accidents happen. Kesian kat Irfan sampai kena pukul (Sorry baby).. but I have high expectation for my boy, and he has never let me down :)

That's my boy getting ready for Story Time at Barnes and Noble

One of the things that he likes to do at B&N- playing with Thomas th Train

Happy running around

Oh Boy!

At 2 years 7 months old, Irfan talks a lot. He's really a chatter box although we can hardly understand what he's talking about. Some of his favorites are:

1. Yeaaa... Ohhh yeaahhh.. yeaahhh...!! - he says that when he gets really excited for example when meeting new friends.

2. Is that a grasshopper?? - he likes to draw on the 'doodle board'. He keeps asking us, is that yada yada yada..? All we can see is just some scribbles haha. @_@

And today.. he said couple of things that made me went ....what?!?!! Did he just say that?

It all started this morning, as usual I made breakfast for Irfan. And the menu for today was some buns (dinner rolls) with honey butter. As I was washing the dishes, I kept reminding Irfan that he needed to eat his breakfast.
Me: Irfan... eat your breakfast..eat your roti Irfannnn...
Irfan: Eat roti everyday...?!
Me: @_@ What did you just say?
The thing is, I have never ever heard him using the word everyday. And now he's complaining that he has to eat roti everyday? LOL

Then we were getting ready to go out. I'm having my period and as I was 'terkial2' fixing my pad, Irfan came into the bathroom and looked at me with his round eyes and said 'Mama's diaper...mama's diaper' pointing to my pad!! And I was like... bila masa pulak budak ni belajar cakap mcm ni.. nak samakan diaper dia dgn kite pula. He said that because the pad looks like his diaper! LOL

Geleng kepala jela dgn Irfan ni. He's getting smarter and smarter... and growing really fast too. I know that I'm going to miss this phase of my life.

Potty Train - Pictures

Irfan reading while Toby sitting by his side.. patiently waiting for Irfan to pee pee

Sexy nye la my Irfan comel.. hehe

Momma wat ya doing?! Stop taking my pictures please!! I need some privacy!
I don't like an entry without pictures. So here you go.. pictures of Irfan sitting on the potty but no pee or poo for today aish... keep it up boy maybe tomorrow ler..

Potty Train - Part I (continued)

Ok last time (that was couple of weeks ago) Irfan said * change change change* for the first time and that's the ONLY time he said it..... shaking my head. Maybe he's not ready.. i don't know..

Today, I have the guts to take out the potty chair and show Irfan how to sit and wait to potty/ pee pee.
First with the diapers on, then I told him 'we need to take off the diaper'. He's not happy with that so I kept persuading him until he agreed!  yeay diaper's off, and he sat with naked bottom.. I read books to him.. sang some nursery rhymes.. and yet no pee pee or poo poo.
I put his fave teddy bear 'Toby" by his side and keep telling Irfan 'Irfan, Toby wants to see you pee pee.. can you pee pee please' ..
Irfan looked at his pen*s and say 'pee...peee' but nothing ...no air kencing
So I kept on reading him some books.. sang.. and sang again..
Then suddenly Irfan touched his pen*s and gelak2..
Adoiii... pening makcik...
So we sat... and sang... and read... for 15 to 20 mins but nothing came out of his *toot*
Then Irfan said 'Mama.. diaper..put on diaper'
Adoi.. dah la tu jom la tido... we'll try again later.

That's all for today. I'm taking it a step at a time... seems like forever ey?

A weekend in November

Hanging out with my boys- one of the best way to spend my weekend. What can I say, I love them so much hehe (ayat bodek nak handbag boleh?)
Weekend baru ni Irfan turned 26 months old. Like usual I like to buy him something for his monthly birthday hohoh mana la tak kayap kan Well I used to do that when I was working now maybe every other month is okla..
Saturday went to a story telling session at Borders bookstore. Dekat je dgn rumah like 3 mins drive. Irfan got to do some coloring, main2 with some kids etc and the best part is dapat la hadiah free- a small ball, CD teddy bear songs, and a coupon $5 off for a teddy purchase at Build-A-Bear store. In the states ade Build-A-Bear store where you can pick a bear/plush toys that you like, then isi dgn all the fillings and put a heart in it so it's a bit special compared to buying a bear off the shelf.

Me helping Irfan out.

Look at us! We look so much alike!!!

The teddy that we got from the mall.

His name is TOBY. Irfan loves him so much.

Sunday pulak went out to buy groceries and had lunch at this Italian restaurant close to our place. Can't remember the name but the food is absolutely delicious and the price is so reasonable but it's just a small portion la kan. Gem, nanti datang sini boleh la gi makan.
Our lunch. Both were so yummy! Gem kena try bila dtg sini..

I LOVE the pasta.. one of the best i've ever had so far. That's my gucci bag, so should I buy the black one?

Irfan busy with his toddler cup.
Zuhri with the food. Nak makan!
Thanksgiving is couple of weeks away. Kena plan nak masak ape.. shopping ape hehe. Can't wait for the Dallas trip.

Eid 2010 plus Irfan's Birthday Bash

Mother and son on eid
This eid was rather quick yet a  lot of things happened at once. Some highlights of the month of Syawal:
We celebrated our eid at a new place, Wichita KS with close family and friends. Couldn't ask for a better celebration.
My family in Malaysia went to India to celebrate Eid with our beloved Munya huhu...
Irfan's birthday was on the 3rd Eid so Zuhri and  I decided to throw him a party and eid open house sekali. Senang, same food same crowd= save budget heheh.

Ok here's the panjang lebar version:
On the first raya, pegi solat raya at Wichita masjid, my first raya at a 'real' masjid since 2004. I didn't cook anything, so we ate Krispee Kream donuts which were equal to eating tart nenas la kot haha! Malam was open house at a student's place. The food was amazing, and variety of them..One of the best open house I have to say.

Second day, did a very looong shopping for Irfan's gift, birthday stuff and all the bahan for open house. Gem showed up about 6 PM and there were no food on the stove! Sorry Gem..Malam tu masak la few things: sambal goreng, cupcakes etc.

The next day we were up as early as 6:30, start masak roti jala, curry and nasi dagang. Perghhh..boleh tahan penat. The guests came about 1 PM semua makan nasi dagang je huhu since tu je yg ade, the rest of the food other folks yg bawak. By the time the rest of the crew datang nasi dagang pun habis.. aisey. Later was Irfan's birday bash. We lighted the candle and everybody sang to him. Wahhh punya la suka itu budak kecik sampai tak berhenti menyanyi, I think the guests have to sing 3-4 times of the bday song. Tak pernah nampak dia se happy tu.. you can look at the video at Zuhri's fb. I'm so glad I planned for the birthday.. one of the most amazing moments..
Irfan is two and the journey that we had with him so far has been nothing but amazing.. it's a truely blessed having him around: he's my lil helper, my sunshine in a gloomy day, my admirer who's always amazed by my beauty and silliness haha! At two, I think Irfan is a bit taller, mature and smarter than any othe kids at his age haha ni mak perasan berkata kata
He knows a lot of words, hundreds of them. Every time when I introduce something new to him he'll get excited. Anddd... he'll say 'hi' and 'bye bye' to that new object. For example..
Mama: "Irfan, look at the grass...it's grass"
Irfan: "Grass..grass...grass... hi grass...hi grass.."
Walking away....
Irfan: "Bye bye grass...bye bye grass"

Here are some pics from the mini open house and birthday bash
