We are in Kansas!!

Here we are in Russell, Kansas. Not quite an end to our journey just yet but it's getting reallyyyy close.

We stared the day by having our breakfast at Marriot. Boleh tahan la ade chef tolong masak omelette, food was marvelous and dpt layanan top class la. Then balik bilik kemas2 and off for the road. Today's trip is pretty boring.. I can say Kansas is a land with no view except for wheat and flat land hehe. Seven hours on the road was ok.. Irf4n slept most of the time.

Tomorrow we will be heading to Kansas City, Missouri to rumah Che Gem. I'm glad and sad that the trip is almost over. Glad sbb dah pokai hehe and sad..you know why.

Tadi pegi Rocky Mountains State Park.. wehooo mmg lawa gilos. Ala2 kat europe sikit.. the park is not so big i think you can pretty much cover everything in one day. Kalau Yellowstone or Grand Teton you probably need 2-3 days to actually meronda2 all attractions.

Rocky Mtn state park ni a bit more civilized compared to the other parks that we went. There were lots of shops and really happening! Saw some wildlifes, elks and deer. When we were at the summit, we realized that we were actually at the same level as the clouds. Pelik tak...the altitude was about 14k+ above sea level.. walauuweh...

Here's our route for today tapi we all buat loop. I dont know nape i cannot do the loop in google map. Two more days and we are done with the road trip...sighh...

We are in Colorado, day 8 of our road trip.. bermakna dah 8 hari jugakla miss puasa sabo jela.. Tomorrow will be heading to Rocky Mountains State Park yehoo.. i'm not really sure ape yg special sgt dgn tmpt tu. Will check it out tomorrow la kot.

Heard Noi dah selamat landing di Spore and selamat sampai BP. Beshnye dapat puasa and raya kat Msia. Part makan tu la yg best... puasa tgh2 panas terik tu agak mencabar gak huhu.. Bila la kite satu family nak beraya bersama nih?! I think it has been 10 years kot raya mmg tak penah cukup korum sob sob.. tapi this year should be a bit meaningful for me, Irf4n and Zuhri sbb dapat beraya dgn auntie cah & uncle amin..huhuu harap2 uncle amin bg $ raya!

K la nak titon dulu esok nak jalan jauh. Hopefully Irf4n takdela buat hal mcm kat Mt Rushmore.. nanti cubit2 pipi dia..

Bye Bye Bend

We've been on the road for 7 days. Really tiring. We are at Hot Springs, St Dakota; an hr away from Mount Rushmore. Petang tadi went to Mt Rushmore.. best jugak except for Irf4n yg buat hal, merengek and cranky all the time. Kalau Raja Kecik ni tak buat hal we could have enjoyed it more. sigh..

We left Bend on the 22nd.. movers came on Weds the 19th, loading boxes into the truck Thurs 20th and we had a day left to clean up the house. Memang sedey la tinggalkan Bend, couldn't believe that I won't be seeing Old Mills, Santiam Pass, Drake Park (the place where Zuhri proposed to marry me), St Charles Hospital (I gave birth to Irf4n), Pilot Butte, Dutch Bros, Columbia Air/ Cessna, Dawson Dr and many more ever again. I'll be posting pictures later...now dah penat n ngantuk sgt. Doakan kami selamat sampai ke rumah Gem huhu.. adios.

Baby Irf4n- 11 months old

Whoaaaa... Irf4n dah 11 bulan?! Macam tak caya..rasa baru je tulis his milestones at 10 months old and now he's 11? How time flies.. sigh.

And believe it or not, this week is going to be our last week in Bend. We will be driving out Saturday... oh.. I'm going to miss my sweet Bend. Four years here are just not enough. Bend really means a lot to us (or at least to me). The significance of Bend, Oregon to me: My first job after college is in Bend, I got married to Zuhri while in Bend, Irf4n was born here and I will put a pause to my career before moving from Bend. Aaahhh...till our paths cross again my sweet Bend, Oregon.

Ok ok back to my sweetheart.. at 11 months old among his achievements are:

• He eats a lot. I usually make him bubur ayam or ikan bilis+ veggies from jar for lunch. He can eat everything in one shot, bubur tu penuh 1 manguk tau. Then fruit for 3-4 spoons.
  
• His interest in reading is really obvious. He loves books more than toys.
  
• He started to clap his hands two weeks ago 8/8/2009 on our way back from Oregon Coast
• He couldn't walk just yet but he started to hold on things (couch, coffee table etc) and walk along the edge and he's pretty good at it.
  
• Started baby talk 'dada..taa..abbaba..' sometimes mengigau ckp2 pelik kan
• Interested in Fresh beat band, mcm hypnotized kalau tgk the band on tv
• Takut kalau org potong rambut dia huhu..we all potong rambut dia aritu for the 3rd time nangis gile2

We bought Irf4n a portabe dvd player and some toys for the road for his 11th month birthday. Wish us luck and hope I can start working soon. I really miss working.. I love to be around people and really need to jumpstart my brain la. But I don't want Irf4n to be sick again..mmm..

Weekdays well spent

Last week on Tuesday Irf4n had another echo, thank god the very last one for this year. We received a very shocking yet pleasant news, Irf4n is all better alhamdulillah His LM coronary artery has came down to 2.5mm within the normal range. It was 4.1mm when he had kawasaki and 3.1mm from his last check up. He is officially off his medication and will be on semi annual check up until teenager. We are blessed. We could have never made it this far without the continuous doa and support from all of you... thank you so much.

On Wednesday-Friday, we went on our final trip ronda2 Oregon before moving to Kansas. Our destination was Oregon Coast since pikir2 kat midwest nanti tak jumpa pantai2 ni. Five hours drive, sampai la ke Oregon Dunes a place like desert. Didn't do much, took some pictures and headed to the hotel. Boleh naik Bungee etc tapi susah la dgn Irf4n.

Second day went to Oregon Safari, boleh pet baby animals. The place is OK.. quite small and ghetto gitu, but we enjoyed every second there. Rasa mcm kat kampung pulak but with all the wild animals running around.

Third day went to the beach for a little bit. Irf4n suka sgt main pasir pantai, suka tendang2. I didn't let him touch the sand pakai tangan, so dia boleh kick2 je pasir. He was sooo eager nak pegang pasir tapi tak boleh bagi la kan nanti dia makan je pasir tu. After a while he learnt that
he can actually move his feet towards his body and touch the sand using his hands!! Syabas anakku!

Ok nak gi kemas2 barang ni. Nak pindah tapi mcm tak buat ape lagi..

PEPTIC ULCER

hey guys...just wana share with u briefly how peptic ulcer occurs..



ur stomach is lined by many types of cells..eg

chief cell-secrete pepsinogen(proenzyme for protein digestion),

parietal cell-secrete hydrocloric acid, intrinsic factor for absorbtion vitB12

G-cell- gastrin(hormone)

D-cell- somatostatin(hormone)



secretions from all these cells are important for digestion system..pepsinogen will become active in the presence of HCl,then will breakdown protein into small peptide..n blaa blaa blaa...hheeheh but how this cell prevent itself from being digested by its own secretion?(autodigestion)

soo actually, there is "mucosal barrier" presence on the surface of mucosal cell..
mucosal barier is formed by 1.mucus 2.bicarbonate ion that is secreted by mucus neck cell...
function of this mucosal barier is to protect cells lining the stomach from being autodigested...

causes of peptic ulcer:
1. Helicobater pylori-bacteria that cause inflamation of lining of stomach that damage protective mucus layer
2.ASPIRIN and NSAIDs- will inhibit production of prostaglandins(hormone)



one of the various functions of prostaglandins is to
1.decrease(inhibit) gastric(HCl) secretion
2. increase stomach mucus secretion


intake of aspirin n NSAIDs as mention,will decrease prostaglandins secretion,
so there will be increase in HCl n decrease stomach mucus secretion...HCl then will act on cells lining the stomach(that are no longer protected)n leads 2 peptic ulcer...


**NSAIDs- nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs
NSAIDs -are widely use to combat pain n treat athritis...

Road Trip?!

We will be moving in a few weeks, decided to drive rather than fly. Oregon (OR) to Kansas (KS) babeh!

The company will pay either

1. Fly+ accommodation and meals(1 day)
   
2. Drive+gas+accommodation and meals (5 nights)

We (Zuhri only, me 50-50) decided to go with #2. It will take us 10 +/- 2 days to get to Kansas, and with Irf4n...it's 100x scary. I know I will have two babies on board, Zuhri will be the other BIG baby. Takutnye..but Zuhri really wants to see the world *kononye la* nak pegi all national park, Hells Canyon, Yellowstone (we've been there once), Grand Teton, Mount Rushmore, and others but man.. it's a bit wacky to do this with a baby. But oh well.. I'm excited+scared.

I guess we just have to Hope for the Best but Expect the Worst. We went back to Malaysia once with Irf4n, it wasn't too bad but of course he was 3 MONTHS OLD, no tantrum or anything yet!!

I'm planning to buy toys for traveling .. pening la nak beli ape since Irf4n prefers remote, cell phone, laptops, keys. I'll get him a portable dvd player too so that he can watch Yo Gabba Gabba and Ni Hao Kailan. I've always thought that Irf4n would like something like Barney the purple dino ke, but nope.

Esok Irf4n will have another echo.. praying that he can be off aspirin by then Amin.. tolong doakan my baby jugak ye..

A&A Wedding

Our friend, Aaron got married yesterday on Aug 1st 09. We were 15 mins late, didn't know that the parent's house is in the middle of nowhere, susah betul nak cari rumah. It's a private place by a river with a country view, very nice and... for the rich only! When we got there, the ceremony has already started (they already walked aisle, i was so crushed). We managed to see them exchanging wedding bands and KISS each other. The event took place at the front yard. I forgot to take pictures, just some videos je.

We saw some familiar faces there from Cessna and Epic. It's really nice to able to catch up with old friends and coworkers. Sadly, everybody is moving away from Bend. And we are too!

Ok back to the cermony, after nuptials we were served with some appetizers, i personally love the cocktail shrimp. !rf4n did very well for the first hour or so, thank god the weather was nice showing signs to rain. Lepas tu diaorg annouce masuk dalam tent reception. The more I think of it, american wedding ni sama je mcm melayu..more like melayu modern la with meja pengantin etc. A lot of similarity, not sure if melayu dah evolve tiru diaorg ke or mmg originally mcm tu.

All in all it was a beautiful wedding, minus the thunderstorm rasa mcm tent nak tercabut. And we got to ride a limo for the first time too..weehoooo. Food was so so, kitaorg just makan salad and bread. I think they forgot that we only eat halal or kosher meat. The sad part was we didnt get a chance to take picture with the bride and groom, !rf4n was too tired and cranky so we had to leave early. Sigh.
I wish both of them a happy life together and hopefully in a few years we can meet 'little' A&A (babies).
