My set of gigi besi!

Here are pictures of my set of gigi besi.

I've been wanting to have this on since forever. I remember I kept begging my mom to take me to an Ortho since I was in form 2 or 3..
Then I flew to the States. Time study mana mampu kan. After several years working now I get the chance to actually memakai braces. First day wasn't too bad.. 2nd- 5th day was terrible. Couldn't eat and soar all day. Malam2 terjaga tak dapat tido wow.. unexpected betul. Starting on the 2nd day mulut pecah2 teruk sgt because my mouth wasn't used to the unfamiliar metal strapped on the teeth. Today is the 8th day- and I'm not fully recovered just yet. Makan nasi main telan je.. and... this really convinced me that Beauty is Pain.. muehehe I pick beauty so I guess I have to deal with the pain.

So Nov 2010 my journey begins- The Gigi Besi. Two more years to go! Dang!

Potty Train - Part I (continued)

Ok last time (that was couple of weeks ago) Irfan said * change change change* for the first time and that's the ONLY time he said it..... shaking my head. Maybe he's not ready.. i don't know.. 

Today, I have the guts to take out the potty chair and show Irfan how to sit and wait to potty/ pee pee.
First with the diapers on, then I told him 'we need to take off the diaper'. He's not happy with that so I kept persuading him until he agreed!  yeay diaper's off, and he sat with naked bottom.. I read books to him.. sang some nursery rhymes.. and yet no pee pee or poo poo. 
I put his fave teddy bear 'Toby" by his side and keep telling Irfan 'Irfan, Toby wants to see you pee pee.. can you pee pee please' ..
Irfan looked at his pen*s and say 'pee...peee' but nothing ...no air kencing
So I kept on reading him some books.. sang.. and sang again..
Then suddenly Irfan touched his pen*s and gelak2..
Adoiii... pening makcik...
So we sat... and sang... and read... for 15 to 20 mins but nothing came out of his *toot*
Then Irfan said 'Mama.. diaper..put on diaper'
Adoi.. dah la tu jom la tido... we'll try again later.

That's all for today. I'm taking it a step at a time... seems like forever ey?

Feyruz around 3 months old

Third time his eczema got worse..


We went to see a dermatologist at Children Mercy Hospital. The doctor said that his condition is totally because of eczema and nothing to do with food allergy. She prescribed Feyruz with steroid ointment/oil to put around the affected area, and to make a wet wrap when he sleeps at night which can help moisturize and soothe his skin.

The wet wrap: put Feyruz on a warm, wet sleeper (overall) and then covers him with another layer of dry sleeper. Then wrap him with a blanket. For the face, put a damp washcloth around the affected area.

First time we put him in a wet wrap. He slept really well that night for 5-6 hours.

After a few days, his skin got much better than before.

Alhamdulillah Feyruz' condition improves tremendously since we saw the dermatologist. He still has eczema patches here and there, but not as severe as before. And he just started laughing today! So sweett :)

A weekend in November

Hanging out with my boys- one of the best way to spend my weekend. What can I say, I love them so much hehe (ayat bodek nak handbag boleh?)
Weekend baru ni Irfan turned 26 months old. Like usual I like to buy him something for his monthly birthday hohoh mana la tak kayap kan Well I used to do that when I was working now maybe every other month is okla..
Saturday went to a story telling session at Borders bookstore. Dekat je dgn rumah like 3 mins drive. Irfan got to do some coloring, main2 with some kids etc and the best part is dapat la hadiah free- a small ball, CD teddy bear songs, and a coupon $5 off for a teddy purchase at Build-A-Bear store. In the states ade Build-A-Bear store where you can pick a bear/plush toys that you like, then isi dgn all the fillings and put a heart in it so it's a bit special compared to buying a bear off the shelf.

Sunday pulak went out to buy groceries and had lunch at this Italian restaurant close to our place. Can't remember the name but the food is absolutely delicious and the price is so reasonable but it's just a small portion la kan. Gem, nanti datang sini boleh la gi makan.

I LOVE the pasta.. one of the best i've ever had so far. That's my gucci bag, so should I buy the black one?

 Thanksgiving is couple of weeks away. Kena plan nak masak ape.. shopping ape hehe. Can't wait for the Dallas trip.

Should I?

I have this G Hobo bag.. similar to the picture below but in Ivory (cream) / White.. I bought it couple of  years ago. I was planning to sell it then rasa sayang, it reminds me of Irfan.

Now the bag below is on sale! It's a hobo too except that it's a leather bag. So tempted to buy it but again it's the same design (hobo) same designer brand! Wah.. nak beli ke? Confuse makcik! Plus it doesn't look very comfortable to carry it ey? But it's huge and I need it to carry Irfan's junk+ my junk hoho!

Nursery time

Today has been quite a tiring day. Zuhri just got a new baby over the weekend read a preloved honda civic as our second car. So today Irfan and I got a chance to go on our own so I thought the library might be a good place to start. It's a medium size building - not as big as the one at the down town area but the cool thing is it's next to a huge playground! Hehe I'm just as excited as Irfan..
So we went to the nursery rhyme- story telling session at the library for about half and hour or so. There were about 10 moms with their toodies in the room. Had a lot of fun singing and dancing around- Irfan being him just sitting there and watch hoh! But when it comes to story time and the teacher flashed some animal pictures, Irfan kuat je cakap 'Dog.. Cow.. Horse.. Sheep.. Goat' when  no other kids could tell what they are. Well I guess for a first timer it's not that bad. Then picked up some books and dvds. Irfan was holding tight to this one dvd that has a monkey picture on it, so when the librarian lady wanted to checked out the dvd, Irfan menjerit sakan mak ai satu library dengar. Me on the other hand just play dumb malas nak layan even though A LOT of people were staing at us! Huh!
Then we headed to the playground yippie fun time! Met this mother from Vietnam that has almost the same problem as me- having a super shy kid that won't mix around. It might be an asian thingy I don't know. Played for about an hour and ready to go.
These days, it's easier for me to make Irfan move on from one thing to another for example nak suruh finish up bath time, nak balik rumah after main kat playground etc. Most kids will scream like crazy mengamuk2 kan.. Irfan pun mcm tu jugak dulu until we started to say: ' Ok Irfan.. 5 more minutes then we have to go..' after couple of minutes, remind him again ' 3 more minutes Irfan...' the finally 'OK Irfan.. it's time to go..' lama2 dia mcm paham, and will be ready by the time I say' time to go'

Feyruz Condition

I've been planning to write on the blog last week, but I just didn't have the time. Since the last doctor's visit, I've been busy taking care of Feyruz. We still couldn't figure out what he's allergic to, so I've been giving him formula for a week to see if it is from breastmilk. And his doctor has prescribed with different medcines. So far I didn't see any difference.

It was difficult while feeding him the formula. The first day was the worst, he cried and cried until he was tired. He didn't want to take the formula, and kept searching for my boobs when I hold him. He finally took the formula, but only a bit and then he dozed off. When he woke up, Feyruz cried even louder.... Amin worked from home on the first day. We had to take turn calming him and trying to feed him. I felt so sad watching Feyruz cried. I even cried with him huhu..

And at the same time, I have to keep pumping my milk to maintain the milk supply. Also as of right now, I have already given up eating dairy products, seafood, egg and peanut. So.. no cake, cookies, ice cream, chocolate... and the list goes on and on..

Now I switched back to breastmilk. Can't wait to see the dermatologist at Children Mercy Hospital this Friday. Feyruz has been very fussy these past few days, he cried a lot more than usual. And his face kinda puffy.

3rd year life----->Posting at hospital, Udupi& Karkala

For the 3rd year in Manipal, we are posted to few of the hospitals in Udupi & Karkala..every 1.5 weeks we have to change the department, eg pediatric, Obstetric & gynaecology, psychiatric, medicine, community medicine, surgery etc...My first posting was pediatrics..there were millions of things i learnt bout infants, toddlers, adolescence etc..i learnt milestones of baby startng from the day 1, 3 month-aged, 6 months, 12 months and etc..besides, i also learnt about growth, development, congenital abnormalities, as well as diseases among the kids..For me pediatric is quite a tough field as we are mainly handle with small children..they are very fragile,have low immune system and are prone to get infections..hence, a very good hygiene has to be maintained all the time. The best thing about pediatrics was, i just realised tht i start loving child more and more...hihih they are soo cute, adorable and suprisingly, i can say that more thn 50% of the indian baby has a very fair skin...

She was soo cute..she come bcoz of ear infections.

This little boy kne bronchopneumonia..pitty him..but he is
getting better few days after the treatment..
